International Day of Plant Health 2025

🌿 Plant Health in One Health 🌿

The Caribbean Agricultural Health and Food Safety Agency (CAHFSA) calls on all countries across the Caribbean region to take action in promoting the International Day of Plant Health on May 12, under the theme: “The Importance of Plant Health in One Health.”

This year, CAHFSA joins the global call to emphasise that plant health is central to One Health approach, linking the well-being of people, animals, and the environment.

🌱 Why It Matters? Plants are the foundation of life: they feed us, sustain the environment, and support the health of both animals and people. Around the world, plant pests, diseases, and climate change threaten this delicate balance.

Help us Promote Global Awareness with Simple Steps that make a Big Impact. Whether you're a gardener, farmer, student, or policymaker, here’s how you can get involved:

🌿 Grow healthy, native plants to support local biodiversity.

🚫 Avoid moving plants, seeds, or soil across regions without official approval.

🔍 Be plant-health aware; learn to recognise pests that threaten your environment.

📢 Report unusual plant health issues to your local agricultural authority.

🐝 Reduce pesticide use to protect plant ecosystems and soil health.

📚 Educate others; talk about how plant health affects food security, climate resilience, and health for all.

🌍 Together, We can Build Resilience from the Ground Up

Join us in taking action to promote plant health. Plant health is everyone’s responsibility.
